Antonio Conte has warned Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho over playing mind games ahead of their clash in the quarterfinal of the FA Cup on Monday.
The Red Devils clash with league rivals at the Stamford Bridge and Antonio Conte believes his counterpart has to do the talking on the pitch. Jose Mourinho is known for his history of outbursts with other managers especially in crucial games.
Conte said: ‘Mind games don’t bring you to win. The most important thing is what happens on the pitch. To prepare the team in the right way, with good organisation.
‘To talk football. To think about my team, to try through work to improve my players. These are the most important things for me and for every coach.
‘The mind games… they’re strange no? It’s strange to ask me this.
‘My players and I are focused on the game on the pitch, on the work, and to try to improve every day.’
During the first leg of their Premier League fixture, it emerged that Mourinho pulled Conte closer to warn him about celebrating after United fell 4-1 to the Blues at the Stamford Bridge. When asked whether he has contacted the Portuguese regarding the incident, the Blues boss said: ‘No, but I don’t think it’s important.
