Tuchel Line Up As Replacement For Antonio Conte

German magazine, Sport Bild has said that discussions about Conte’s future have continued at board level and Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has decided Tuchel is the man to take over at Stamford Bridge.

Despite Conte easing pressure on himself with a crucial 2-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday after a chaotic summer had thrown his future into doubt, the report says Chelsea are attracted to his incorporation of young players and feel he would be a good fit at Stamford Bridge.

Conte’s relationship with Granovskaia is reported to be fractious after a summer spent complaining about transfer activity and the infamous text message sent to Diego Costa.

Tuchel, a 43-year-old left just three days after leading Borussia Dortmund to victory in the DFB-Pokal final in May, due to a fall out with the club.

Conte, though signed a new contract in July, did not extend it. The contract just enhanced his salary, meaning he has just two years left.

It would be recalled that Inter Milan made efforts to take him back to Italy before he eventually signed the new contract.
Antonio Conte has clashed with the Chelsea board at times

“For every coach it’s important to give continuity to the club because when you arrive you don’t know what you’ll find,” Conte said last week.

“And when you understand your basis you have to try to work step-by-step, year-by-year to improve this basis, to make this basis more solid and to build a good structure.

“To fight to win the title, to try to win. Last season we did a fantastic season because there wasn’t this foundation or basis.”

“Last season we started to build this foundation and we won so it means we built something. But now it’s not enough, so we have to improve, to extend this basis, work together with new players.”

These new claim from Germany will stun Chelsea fans who saw their team come together on Sunday following a difficult start to the season.

Gary Neville thinks the display proved the Chelsea players were still working for their manager.

Neville said, “In the last two or three weeks, people have been writing Chelsea off.”

“I don’t think it’s unfair for us, the media, to be asking questions around Chelsea after losing the first game in such fashion, the Costa situation rumbling on and the Matic situation.”

“We are aware of what happened last time after Chelsea won the title. Mancini, Ranieri and Mourinho have all been sacked pretty quickly after winning the title.”

“You thought today before the game, this was more than three points for Chelsea because you could see if they were beaten here today and beaten well it could start to unravel a little bit.”

“They stood up today. They stood up like champions. They pulled together a makeshift team, this is certainly not their first XI, and they’ve shown something today.”

“They’ve shown they are actually with the manager. If you think about the accusations last time Chelsea won the league it’s that they weren’t with Mourinho.”

“Today they played, even when they went to 1-1, brilliantly. They put in a good performance against a really good Tottenham team.”
